
In addition, the script includes a few musical numbers by Jamie Sullivan when the play the two have been practicing for is finally shown to the public. The cookie-cutter acting that takes place is distracting and makes an intimate and emotional love story seem very crafted rather than genuine. Although both West and Moore do a good job at playing their part, they seem very scripted and it makes the romance seem very cheesy.


The movie itself, is very emotional, and it takes two very talented actors to immerse themselves in a movie where the characters have a life-changing experience at such a young age. Although the attempt to reframe the book for the current generation of teenagers was commendable, it was not successful.

Having been a huge fan of the Nicholas Spark’s book the movie was based off, the massive adjustments in plot made by the director and producer (Sparks) to better fit the target audience, were a big disappointment.
